Having MS forced me to start going to the gym and make it part of my daily routine. Blueprint Fitness made me ENJOY going to the gym and WANT to make it a part of my daily ROUTINE. TOGETHER with this fitness organisation I have managed to achieve things I never thought I would be able to do again and beyond. “I met Antony on Thursday 17th January 2013, 6 days after I was diagnosed with the life long illness Multiple Sclerosis. As a result of a severe relapse I had lost a huge amount of strength, feeling and grip in both arms and lower legs. I wanted to get in the gym as soon as possible but was incredibly apprehensive and nervous I would trigger another relapse, so felt I needed the support and guidance of a Personal Trainer. Keen to choose someone who would have the knowledge and skills to really help me, I was introduced to Antony who immediately took an interest and made me feel at ease.  Antony’s degree level of education shines through when he is explaining the methods that will help you attain your hoped outcomes. It is this depth of knowledge, which allows me to feel confident in trusting him to create a suitable plan for someone like myself with such a specific problem to overcome.

Although he already had a solid understanding of the illness, Antony did extensive research into MS and what changes I could make to help support our training. He looked into how my diet could help the condition and soon suggested I embark on the Paleo diet, even suggesting some books I can read to enrich my mind on this new and unfamiliar diet. I began by booking 3 sessions and soon bough the 10 session offer which is absolutely brilliant for someone like myself who has just one session a week.

When we started our training I was only able to walk on the treadmill at a very low incline, at a low speed and for around 10 minutes maximum. My balance had been harshly affected meaning I always had to have both hands on the treadmill to keep myself upright. When we first started training upper body exercises (the area worst affected on my body), I could just about hold my self up with my knees on the ground and was unable to do one complete press up.

I’m am pleased to say that now, 4 months on, following some intense but perfectly suited sessions with Antony I can freely walk on the treadmill at a much higher percentage incline, at a considerably faster walking pace and for at least 25 minutes.  He found some great exercises to work on my core strength, balance, grip and especially my upper body strength. Antony also looked into how the Power Plate could help bring some of the feeling back into my arms and I can honestly say I am shocked with how much they have improved and absolutely did not think I would be where I am now.

I began my training sessions lifting 10kg and I can now lift 25kg on some exercises and even managed to deadlift 55kg in my last session, which I was most proud of!

After just two and a half months I lost 2kg of fat and gained 3kg of muscle. I have gained all the feeling back in my legs and through a combination of Antony’s session plans and nutritional advice I have made a considerable impact on the senses in both arms. Antony has helped me counteract the lack of feeling in both hands with a build up of strength which has allowed me to do the simplest of tasks, such as holding a pen and writing, something I could not consider doing three months ago. This is where his functional-training specialty really proves itself.

I would highly recommend Antony to anyone, as he is committed, focused, knowledgeable and incredibly supportive, working hard to ensure your training is tailored to your specific needs. Most of all he makes exercising enjoyable! So much so that I am considering entering the Miami Pro Bikini Fitness Category competition next year as I actually look forward to the training and range of exercises I know Antony will be able to provide.”
